How to choose the right protective gloves?
All protective gloves sold in the Acnova online store are single-use. The choice of gloves depends on many different factors, such as the quality of the gloves, their performance characteristics, intended use and price.
QUICK TEST you can do at the workplace: if a glove hardens or swells on contact with a chemical, the material is wrong.
Three types of gloves
We offer three different types of gloves:
1) latex gloves made of natural rubber 2) vinyl gloves made of plastic 3) nitrile gloves made of synthetic rubber.
Latex gloves
Latex gloves are most often white in colour. A latex glove is elastic and flexible and generally withstands cuts, abrasion and tears fairly well. Sterile latex gloves are widely used in medicine, for example in the operating room.
• Available powder-free and powdered. • Latex is generally not suitable for people allergic to natural rubber. • Intended use: quick cleaning tasks that do not involve strong chemicals. • A latex glove withstands many water-soluble substances, especially mild detergents, hydrogen peroxide and acids.
For whom: hairdressers, beauticians.
Vinyl gloves
Vinyl gloves are transparent or black in colour. They are the most affordable of all glove types.
• Powder-free. • Generally suitable for people with rubber allergies, but may sometimes contain allergenic additives. • Intended use: quick cleaning tasks that do not involve strong chemicals, as well as handling non-fatty foods. • A vinyl glove withstands oils, fats, acids and alkalis well, but dissolves in organic solvents.
For whom: beauticians, hairdressers, pedicurists.
Nitrile gloves
Nitrile gloves come in many colours — we sell at least blue, pink, purple and black. A nitrile protective glove generally keeps its shape well, which provides a secure grip. Nitrile gloves offer good protection against sharp objects and cuts.
• Powder-free. • Allergic reactions have very rarely been reported in people who use nitrile gloves. • Intended use: quick cleaning tasks, tasks involving contact with blood and bodily fluids, handling of various chemicals, and food handling. • A nitrile glove withstands most hydrocarbon solvents, acids and alkalis as well as oils, lubricants and oil-based products well.
For whom: beauticians, nail technicians, nurses.
Quick guide
Note! Changing gloves between different clients helps prevent infections.
Quick guide: • The practitioner (beautician, hairdresser) always puts gloves on clean hands. • Used protective gloves are removed from the hands as soon as possible and put in the trash. They must not be used to touch the surroundings. • Finally, disinfect the hands. Hand disinfection is important, as the hands may have become contaminated with microbes despite the use of gloves.
